Beware of Infusion for Fever and Practice Safe Self-Care

On March 29, 2026 by admin

Infusion for fever should not be administered casually. This is because they can be dangerous for the patient. Therefore, infusions are only useful for replacing body fluids.

Therefore, if the patient only has a fever, this procedure should not be undertaken. This is, unless it’s dengue fever. Infusions can be administered to address health problems caused by mosquito bites.

Infusions for Fever are Not Recommended

Infusion for fever is not recommended. This is because there is no other indication for an infusion procedure other than fluid replacement. A fever without other symptoms also does not warrant an infusion.

When you have a fever, it’s best to take fever-reducing medication rather than an IV. One recommendation is paracetamol. This medication works by minimizing the production of prostaglandins, known as inflammatory triggers.

In addition to fever, these substances can also cause pain. Therefore, prostaglandin levels need to be reduced to resolve symptoms. If the fever persists, consult a medical team. This will allow the patient to receive appropriate treatment from a specialist, not an IV.

Effective for Dengue Fever

Although not recommended for treating fever, IV fluids can help treat dengue fever. This is because this health problem can occur not due to fever, but rather due to massive fluid leakage from the blood vessels. Therefore, aggressive fluid replacement through an IV is necessary.

Intravenous fluids are very effective in preventing serious complications, such as life-threatening shock. Therefore, IV fluids cannot be given for just any fever. It is important to first determine the cause of the fever. This is because fever is not a diagnosis, but a symptom.

Self-Care for a Fever

When you have a fever, there are a number of treatments you can do at home. Here are some of them.

  1. Drink Plenty of Water

One way is to drink plenty of water. This is effective in replacing body fluids lost through sweat. Drinking water ensures your body’s fluid needs are met, preventing dehydration.

  1. Get Enough Rest

In addition to drinking plenty of water, ensure you also get sufficient rest. This is because the body needs rest to relax and its body temperature to stabilize. If you force yourself to engage in strenuous activity, your body will become increasingly weak, and your temperature will be reluctant to drop.

  1. Cold Compress

Apparently, a cold compress can also help lower your body temperature. However, when bathing, avoid using cold water. Warm water is better.

Infusion for fever is not recommended, except in cases of dengue fever or certain other conditions, as advised by a doctor. However, fevers can be managed with fever-reducing medication and the self-care measures mentioned above.
